Another way to win at blackjack is to split two cards into two separate hands. To split, the player must place a second bet next to the first bet. The second bet is for the second hand. When the second hand is a pair, the player gets an extra bet. If the second hand has an ace, the payout is one and a half times the original bet. This is called a “natural blackjack.” When the player receives two aces, he wins if the total of the two cards is 21.
